NEW HOME PROGRAM

If you are not able to continue to care for your pet and have made the decision to re-home, please consider our New Home program. This program allows pet owners to keep their pets in their own homes while we look for a new forever home, which eliminates the need for a foster and allows for a smoother transition for the animal.

This program may be right for you if:

  • You are willing to keep your pet until a new home is found

  • You are a resident in or near NYC or Central Florida.

  • Your pet is up to date on vaccines and is spayed/neutered.

  • Are able to provide photos and updates of your pet.

NEW HOME PROGRAM FAQS

HOW DO I GET IN?

Fill out the request form and we will reach out to you with the next steps. If accepted, your pet will be featured on our socials and website for adoption.

HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO HOLD MY PET?

Once all paperwork is submitted and completed, we will immediately begin to feature your pet and look for potential adopters.  There is no guaranteed time frame for your pet to be adopted.  Most pets tend to be adopted out within a month - with some pets needing a bit more time, including those with medical or behavioral challenges. We ask that you be patient with us and your pet and provide truthful and accurate information to prevent a pet from being returned.

DO I NEED TO PROVIDE VET RECORDS?

Yes. Your pet must be up to date on vaccines including rabies, DHPP, and a heartworm test within the last year. They must also be spayed/neutered.

IS THERE A FEE?

There is no fee for you and your pet to participate in our program. There is, however, a rehoming fee that will be the responsibility of the new adopter, which includes support for the lifetime of the pet. We will never let your pet be homeless again. 100% of all fees and donations go back into the rescue to help cover program costs and our mission to help other pets in need.

WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE THE NEW ADOPTER?

You get the final say.  Your pet will remain under your legal ownership until the final contracts are approved and signed.  If you do not approve of the new owner, you have the right to decline the adoption.

WHAT IF MY PET IS RETURNED?

We work extremely hard to get our rescues in homes that are forever, but things happen. If a pet turns out to not be a good fit for the new family, ideally you would be willing to take the animal back while we try again.  If you cannot take the animal back, please let us know before the adoption so we can work out the best case scenario.

WHAT IF I FIND SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO ADOPT MY PET?

If you find a potential home for your pet while in our program, we ask that they still apply using our adoption application on our website.  This will allow us to screen the potential home to ensure that it is the absolute best fit, as well as provide contracts that will protect you and your dog upon adoption.

CAN I GET UPDATES ON MY PET AFTER ADOPTION?

The contract signed upon adoption will have contact information for the rescue, the new adopter, and the previous owner.  It is up to the new family if they want to keep in contact with you.  However, we will always be in contact with the new family and you are welcome to reach out to us directly for an update.
